Rheia Khalaf, FSA, FCIA, CERA, has over 15 years of experience in the financial industry, around research partnerships, actuarial and risk management consulting, and asset management. She is currently the Director of Collaborative Research & Partnerships for Fin-ML, an academic member of IVADO. Her work revolves around ensuring that academia and the industry work together to advance cutting edge research around machine learning applications in finance and business analytics, and that students and professionals are trained and up-to-date with new technological developments. She holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in actuarial mathematics and a minor in business studies from Concordia University, along with an M.Sc. in quantitative finance and risk management from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, and a certificate in the Sustainable Investing Program from the Institute for Sustainable Finance from Queen’s University Smith School of Business. She is a mentor to startups and a member of the Technology Transfer Committee of the “Autorité des Marchés Financiers” (AMF) of Quebec and a Collaborating Member Researcher of the “International Observatory on the societal impacts of AI and digital technology” (OBVIA).
Her expertise revolves around:

  • Training the future of finance professionals,
  • Responsible AI and ethics,
  • Risk management and governance,
  • AI in sustainable finance.
